    The DDF Micro Loan Fund was designed to assist small businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs in Detroit, Hamtramck, and Highland Park. DDF Micro Loan Fund provides capital to small businesses in their initial stage of development with the purpose of supporting businesses who have the potential to flourish and expand when given the right tools and support.

    The Detroit Neighborhood Fund was originally intended to position east-side neighborhoods to participate in and benefit from the major economic development and investment planned for Detroit’s east riverfront. When the collapse of the regional and national economy stalled these plans, the Detroit Neighborhood Fund became a critical neighborhood resource that helped stabilize this strategically important part of the city, preparing it for revitalization. Detroit Neighborhood Fund investments helped the neighborhoods weather the economic downturn by investing in the community capital and key new anchoring assets that will retain and attract residents to the neighborhoods in the coming years. With a resurgence of interest in city living among younger adults, and with the growing Midtown neighborhood at capacity, the near-east side is well positioned to take advantage of the residential demand generated by the city’s “Live/Work” programs.

  • NBP Neighborhood Beautification Program

    The Neighborhood Beautification Program (NBP) provides grants to Detroit-based block clubs, neighborhood associations, nonprofit organizations, and faith-based organizations to carry out a project on up to four vacant lots in their community.

    Eligibility Requirements -Be a City-registered block club or neighborhood association. Nonprofit organizations and faith-based organizations can partner with a block club or neighborhood association and must submit a partnership letter. Be an LLC or 501(c)(3) legal entity, or have a 501(c)(3) fiduciary partner. Provide proof of ownership of the lots to be improved in the name of the applicant organization. Only parcels zoned R1, R2, or R3 are eligible for funding, and deeds in the names of individuals will not be accepted.

    This program, which is a part of the City's Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, provides funds for public services to improve the quality of life of low-income residents in the City of Detroit.

    Eligibility Requirements Meet HUD National Objective (serves low to moderate income individuals) Attend NOF Application workshop or view webinar Complete and submit proposal(s) by the deadline Read and sign Application Certification forms Has a board with at least five (5) members, which meets at least twice a year Has 501(c)(3) status prior to applying for proposal Has at least two (2) years of operation and proof of operations Has no unresolved government audit and monitoring problems (i.e., tax, legal, etc.) Submit most recent fiscal year cash flow statement, financial statement and if available, recent audit Submit current Michigan Annual Non-Profit Report Submit Recorded Articles of Incorporation Applicant’s organization has provided proof of operating cash on hand (at least 7% of the request) Submit Current Certificate of Good Standing (obtain Certificate here)
